Coronavirus COVID-19 Updates

For more information about local COVID-19 updates, visit the Buncombe County and North Carolina resource pages.

MAY 22, 2020:

This week Governor Cooper announced that NC will be entering into Phase 2 today, which relaxes restrictions on many businesses, including massage therapy.

Our reopening will be gradual and measured, including many new safety protocols. Read about them and get on our waiting list.

APRIL 23, 2020:

Governor Cooper has announced a 3 phase plan for reopening businesses in North Carolina. Based on our understanding of the plan, we’re tentatively looking at reopening the last week of May or beginning of June. This is dependent upon how things progress as restrictions are gradually lifted.

MARCH 23, 2020:

Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order closing close contact businesses, including massage therapy. We will remain closed at least until this order is lifted.

MARCH 19, 2020:

Buncombe County has mandated closure of businesses that “…requires you to be within 6 ft. of another person for a duration of 10 minutes or more. […] Buncombe County Public Health will re-evaluate these measures ongoing on Friday, March 27, 2020“. This clearly includes massage therapy and we will remain closed at least until this mandate is lifted.

MARCH 15, 2020:

We are currently not accepting new massage therapy appointments and have postponed existing appointments. Please contact us if you would like to be notified when we begin scheduling new appointments. If you have an appointment scheduled during this period, we will contact you directly to reschedule once we begin seeing clients again.

MARCH 12, 2020:

Over the past week, we’ve spoken to some of you about the COVID-19 coronavirus and how it may be affecting your lives and our sessions together. Please know that your health and wellbeing is our top priority and we’re here to support you.

To that end, we are currently planning on maintaining our existing appointments and regular business hours. We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep you informed about any changes to our practice.

What We Are Doing

We work hard to ensure that our space is clean and safe for everyone year-round. This is especially true during the flu season and many of the recommendations for COVID-19 prevention are common practice in our massage therapy studio:

  • We thoroughly wash our hands, forearms, and elbows before and after each session.
  • We wipe down all high-traffic surfaces daily with disinfectant. Over the coming weeks we will be disinfecting these surfaces between each session.
  • Most importantly, if we feel as though we might be getting sick, we’ll contact you to reschedule your appointment. (We hope you’ll show us the same courtesy.)

What You Can Do

  • Wash your hands upon arrival with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
  • Cover all coughs and sneezes.

For our health and the health of other clients, please reschedule your appointments if:

  • You feel unwell
  • OR you have traveled to affected locations (including NC Piedmont, New York, Washington, and California) within the last 14 days

For your health and the health of those close to you, consider rescheduling your appointments if:

  • You are over 65
  • OR you have a chronic health condition or compromised immune system.
  • OR you live with, or are a caretaker for, someone that falls into one of the categories above.

This will go a looong way toward helping everyone stay healthy throughout this season. As always, feel free to contact us anytime if you have any questions or concerns. 😊

To your health,

Zach + Amber
